After graduating from the Grant Medical College I did my post-graduation in medicine at the same institute. I worked with the late Dr B J Vakil and Dr S C Shah who are the pioneers in gastroenterology in India. I also worked for 1 year in the ICCU at JJ Hospital. This unit was amongst the first of its kind in the city of Bombay. I finished in 1982 and started my consulting practice in Mulund. One year later in 1983 I started this Nursing Home. My intensive care unit was the first in Mulund. I was an Hon. The hospital is fully equipped with ICU, OT, X-ray and laboratory. I have trained my ICU staff over the past 20 yrs. I have round the clock RMOS and an MD assistant. I was a Physician at the Municipal Hospital at Mulund East between 1990 and 1996. I am attached as a consultant to the Wockhardt Hospital at Mulund.
Scope of activities of Ashwini Hospital and ICCU:
As it can be seen from the list of consultants most of the diseases except for Cardiac and complicated Neusurgical cases can be treated in my hospital.
General Medical cases are dealt with by me. I also treat Cardiac patients and carry out G I Endoscopies. Critically ill patients with cardiac, respiratory illness are treated by me with the help of a super-specialist as and when required. Routine ECG, Stress test, Holter Monitoring, 24 hr. Ambulatory ECG recording are carried out by me. Ultrasonography and 2D-Echo are done in my hospital. Routine X-rays are done at my hospital.
I have a general surgeon Dr. Pankaj Joshi who does all routine surgical procedures. Dr Dhiraj Shah does all routine Urological procedure and Dr. Aul Ganatra Gynecological procedures.
Dr. S C Joshi is the orthopedic surgeon and looks after routine orthopedic and accident cases. Dr V D Joshi does basic neurosurgical procedure like burr holes etc.
I have a fully equipped lab Riddhi Pathological Lab where routine and specialized investigations’ including histopathologiy is done.

Dr Ajay Thakker X-ray and Ultrasound Clinic is in the same premises where all X-ray, Ultrasound and 2-D Echocardiography is done.
I am a partner in Jupiter Scan Centre where CT and MRI is carried out. This is conveniently located at Nahur Road near St. Pious Church and ambulance facilities are available.
