Columbus Travels is an I A T A approved travel agency. It has been a part of hospitality industry since the last 18 years, serving clients with air tickets , tours and hotel bookings .
Ms. Bhavana Agashiwala , a diploma holder of I A T A - U F T A (Geneva) had started Columbus Travels in May 1984. With the increase in business the agency got IATA recognisation in 1992. Today Columbus Travels Group has a staff strength of 25 professionals and an annual turnover of Rs. 20 Crores. Despite in size, Bhavana remains in close touch with the customers and their requirements.
Columbus Travels and Services Pvt Ltd was floated in 1995 , of which Mr . Himanshu Agashiwala is the Managing Director and Ms . Bhavana is the Director . This company has at present three divisions :
The Foreign Exchange division is approved by the Reserve Bank of India as official "Foreign Exchange Money Changer" and can buy & sell currencies & travellers cheques across the counter.
The Training Division , "The Columbus Training Centre" , was started in 1997 with Mr . R.K. Menon (ex Lufthansa German Airlines) as its Principal . Apart from Air Travel Management and related subjects , the centre also conducts training for tours within India (in bound tours) , and Computer Reservation System Courses .
The Tour Division "Columbus Tours" looks after inbound as well as outbound tours . Apart from the involvement of the Directors, the inbound tours are organised by Mr . Dickie Daruwala - Manager ( Tours ), and organises Hotel reservations , transport , Air tickets and other related services within India .
