Dr. Sudheer Deodatta Palkar has completed all degrees from the prestigious Seth G.S.Medical College and KEM Hospital, Bombay whichis affiliated to the Bombay University. His various qualifications are as follows:

  • M.B.B.S. in the year June 1972.
  • M.S. (General Surgery), in the year 1976.
  • MCH (Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery), in the year November 1979.
  • Fellowship for training in Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery from St.Vincent's Hospital Sydney (Australia) in the year 1982.

    My Present Position

    After having done my fellowship from St.Vincent's Hospital in Sydney under Dr.Chang & Dr.Shanahan, where I was given the chance to perform about 100 cases independently. I joined Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre and R.D.Hinduja National Hospital and Research Centre, both very prestigious private hospitals in Bombay as a honorary Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon. I was the Head of Dept. of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in Jaslok Hospital in the year 1993-1995.

    Technical Posts

    After completing one year of Registrars post in Cardiothoracic Surgery, appeared for M.S. in General Surgery and passed M.S.(General Surgery) in June, 1976.

    After achieving M.S. in General Surgery and doing one more year of Registrars post in Cardiothoracic Surgery, I worked as a lecturer in Cardiothoracic Surgery from 01.07.1977 on Ad-hoc basis for about 4 months and then was confirmed by M M S S board in November 1977.

    Special Achievements

    In 1980 I was appointed as teacher from S.N.D.T. Nursing and have taken lectures in Thoracic and Cardio vascular Surgery for nursing graduates and post graduates.

    I was given fellowship in St.Vincent's Hospital Sydney in 1982 and went to Australia in 1982 to gain expertization in Coronary artery bypass surgery. i worked with Dr.Victor Chang and Dr.Mark X Shanahan.

    I was given to operate about 100 cases in Sydney and I came back in 1983 after about 14 months.

    I joined Jaslok Hospital in February, 1983 as full time Cariothoracic Surgeon.

    in 1985 July I became Hon.Cardiothoracic surgeon Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre.
