Company Profile

Engine Clinic was started in 1969 in the city of Madras in India for repairs of in situ machining and repairs on automobile units. The management looked out for collaborators and collaboration was signed with Nicol & Andrew Plc. London for insitu engineering services. As a logical sequence of this contract, machines were imported from U.K.to carryout insitu machining work. The technicians were trained by experts from U.K. In addition collaborations were concluded with Repco, Australia, Unimax - Denmark, Metallock B.V. - Holland for metal stitching and irontite - U.S.A for manufacture of ferrotite compound.

One of the core repair services at that time was orbital honing which was the only method available to refurbish damaged crankshaft and tailshaft bearing. This process relied upon highly skilled technicians to achieve a good result. Orbital equipment was a single point tool mounted on a set of toolbars with a lead screw to drive it along. This assembly sat in a metal cage and was driven around the shaft. The damaged material was "tooled" or "turned" off to reveal a perfectly round and concentric undamaged shaft beneath. Then orbital honing was used as usual to provide a smooth surface finish.

Our commitment to working with the customer to get the job done was our prime consideration and whatever the problems, led to the name ECSE becoming an industry by work for quality insitu machine repairs.

As other industry sections became aware of our specialist services the demand increased for us to expand our range to include repairs specific to their industries, and as a result the other collaborations mentioned above were concluded for various activities like metal stitching, machine manufacturing etc.,
