Samarthanam Trust, a registered non-profitable voluntary organization is committed to promote the resources and talents of the visually impaired and other disabled persons in the field of higher education, free computer training, free hostel for college going visually impaired girls, Integrated education for the disabled, sports, health, placements, cultural activities, awareness, etc. It is a vision born out of the team work of the three talented, determined and self reliant visually impaired graduates. The light in there lives burn bright. Throuogh Samarthanam they have tried to radiate, spread and kindle the spirit of self-reliance in those who have the stigma of handicap. They wished to thwart the sense of helplessness among the disabled and instead make them feel secure in their inner strength and ability to lead a life of new hope. The handicapped, the organization feels, should not ponder over their disability, but instead should look to strengthen their abilities. We at Samarthanam are convinced that disabled do not look for compassion but aspire for understanding and a little help from society. The result of the team's vision has been the birth of Samarthanam Trust for the Diabled, a registered trust for providing guidance and help to disabled. It was registered on 26th Wednesday of February 1997.
