N A B L is a body under the M inistry of Science and Technology, Government of India, which carries out third party, independent, accreditation of Competence of 'Testing & Calibration Laboratories', which include Clinical Laboratories, under the requirements of ISO 17025 : 1999, specific for Competence of Testing Laboratories. Accreditation under ISO 17025 Global Standards, demonstrates the competence of the laboratory to produce technically valid data and results. (Compliance under ISO 17025 Global Standards includes compliance under ISO 9001 & 9002.). N A B L maintains its linkage with international bodies like ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Conference) and APLAC (Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation)

N A B L accreditation of the laboratory at Shahbazker's Diagnostic Centre was a multi step process. Firstly laboratory documents demonstrating its Quality System were examined by a Lead Assessor who was an expert in the field of "Quality System" established under ISO 17025. Then on-site pre-assessment was done by a team comprising of a Lead Assessor and a Technical Assessor (expert in the field of Clinical Laboratory Science). The final on-site assessment was done by a team of a Lead Assessor and two Technical Assessors (experts in biochemistry, haematology, clinical pathology and immunology) for nearly 22 hours, spread over two days. Finally the Accreditation Committee examined the report of the assessors and decided to grant accreditation to the laboratory.
